"GIS Sentinel Spam Firewall" service. A free spam and virus
scanning service using the Barracuda Networks Spam Firewall appliances.
Mail is directed to our Sentinel Spam Firewall server before it reaches your mail
server. Once Sentinel scans the message for all currently known virus & trojan
file attachments, it then tests against an entire battery of SPAM identification
rules. Depending on the score your mail receives from this process, your message
is forwarded on to the original recipient in its' original format, quarantines for
further analysis by you or has the Subject line tagged with identifiable text
stating we've found a virus or what appears to be spam.
The GIS Sentinel Spam Firewall design leverages open source virus and spam
solutions in conjunction with ten defense layers:
- Denial of service and security protection
- IP block list
- Rate control
- Virus check with archive decompression
- Barracuda virus check
- User-specified rules
- Spam fingerprint check
- Intention analysis
- Bayesian analysis
- Rule-based scoring
The methods and techniques used by the GIS Sentinel Spam Firewall are constantly
updated (via hourly signature updates), to keep up with changes that spammers
and virus writers are constantly making.
